Top 10 Things To Put In Your Hospital Bag Before Having a Baby

One of the most asked questions for first-time-moms is what should I pack in my hospital bag before labor? There are obviously many things that you could bring in your hospital bag, but these are the things I have found I used with both of my kids that were helpful. It’s easy to overpack, but I try to keep things minimal when having packing.

  1. Outfit for baby
  2. Comfy outfit for you (nursing friendly if you’re wanting to breastfeed)
  3. Phone charger
  4. Snacks
  5. Chapstick
  6. Keepsake journal for footprints (my favorite is Promptly Journals)
  7. Face wash & light makeup
  8. Birth plan
  9. Hair brush & ponytail
  10. Slippers

There are a lot of other things you could pack, but the hospital has a lot of things you might need such as postpartum care materials, diapers, etc. If you’re wondering if your hospital has something you think you might need, you could always ask beforehand to avoid overpacking. I hope this is helpful when you’re packing for your labor and delivery!

I would be honored to capture your family for a elevated, stress-free photography experience.
