10 Meals to Take Postpartum Mamas

Every time I take a meal to a mom who just had a baby I want to make sure it will be nourishing and comforting. Warm food is super helpful with postpartum healing, so I like to give something warm and hearty. I have a few go-to’s I love to use! I thought I would share them here to reference next time you’re taking a meal to a postpartum mom. The recipes are linked as well!

  • Chicken Pot Pie Gnocchi This meal has comfort food written all over it. It can be made in less than 30 minutes and is a crowd pleaser! I like to pair it with some rolls and a salad of some sort.
  • Ground Beef Orzo with Tomato Cream Sauce– This is such a yummy one! I like to switch out the ground beef with Italian sausage though! It is super good with the ground beef though too. I usually pair this with a salad or green beans.
  • Stuffed Shells– A friend made these for me when I had my second son and they hit the spot! She substituted the red sauce for HEB’S spicy red pepper sauce and the beef for italian sausage. These were a huge hit with my whole family! So yummy!
  • Crockpot Pineapple BBQ Chicken– Who doesn’t love a crockpot meal? This is such a simple meal to throw in the crockpot in the morning and it will be ready in time to take to someone for dinner. I like to pair it with brown or basmati rice and top with green onions. You could also add Hawaiian rolls and a salad or veggie on the side.
  • Creamy Wild Rice Chicken Soup– One of my favorite things to take to moms who have babies in the fall is this soup! It is so hearty and delicious. People always ask me for this recipe because it’s that good. I like to pair it with bread, rolls, or crackers.
  • Chicken Enchilada Soup– This soup is so simple and also easy to just throw in the crockpot. I typically pair it with chips or corn bread muffins!

If I have time, I like to make a dessert to go along with the meal as well. I also love taking Simply Lemonade to go along with it! I try to make the meal simple, yet tasty! If you don’t like to cook or don’t have the time, you can always ask what the postpartum mom likes and order takeout for them! When I had my babies it was always so helpful to have any help with meals from friends/neighbors.

I hope this helps! Enjoy!

My sister had her third baby on New Year’s Eve and I got to fly to Utah to capture some newborn photos. From the outfits to the home decor, everything worked together beautifully.

This newborn session could’ve been straight out of a pottery-barn magazine. Every detail in the nursery was perfect for this sweet baby boy! I may have been a little biased towards the little guy because Clay is my husband’s name too. It was such a dreamy session!
